I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!! I headed out to the Alameda Flea market in search of some wire and wood shelf items to put on tables.
I found lots of cool stuff! 80 year old beads from Kazakhstan which, looks like Bakelite to me! I raced home and spent all day making them into necklaces for the shop…
We had a nice BBQ! My husband even made the hamburger buns from scratch!
Once the fireworks started in our neighborhood, we had to stop and hold our dog! Scully was not liking all the banging around!

Well, what a year! And it’s June already?! It’s like a bad dream I can’t wake up from.
My son is a Berkeley High Student and this is his senior year. He’s frustrated trying to do his homework on line. He tries find creative ways to connect with friends by gaming and Skyping together. Some days it’s a struggle trying to keep boredom and worry away.

My shop is closed. I still go down there about 5 days a week and make stuff, clean and keep a late schedule of 2-7pm. This week I’m working on earrings. Silver necklaces and art image pieces mainly.
I can throw myself into something, a big mess follows. I make a bunch, then suddenly, that’s done. Clean up, go onto to next thing.
Mini-medals were my Memorial Day project. That was really fun! This week it’s silver. I gather all the silver findings, wires, jumprings, and chain, put them all out in the dining room table, then dive in! There’s also a giant box of old sterling silver pieces, finished pieces and samples from years ago… I’m finally going to go through that and while I am make new stuff, I am planning to make a sale page and put up some of these older pieces up. If they are in the $12-$55 range I hope someone would enjoy them, or be able to give them as a gift. Website part of my business Is slower than I’d like, but it will happen a bit faster when my son is done with school work!

Lots of silver earrings, necklaces and goodies are the project in the next ten days. It’s been a long time coming. I haven’t made many earrings in a while. Necklaces too.
The sale stuff is really from about 8 years ago! Some people may like it, some not! The necklaces I used to make are definitely shorter than what I make now! Some I love! They are all sterling silver too! Which I couldn’t make in the same way now, that sterling silver price is so high. I think when I made these silver was still at a decent price! I’ll show some sale pieces below!
I hope everyone is doing okay! Eating well, spending time with family. Not worrying! I’m worried though as I say that! I’m trying to hold onto my store, paying rent while it’s closed, working there and justifying that it is a studio too! Switching to only selling online is especially hard when I’m used to displaying things, seeing people, talking about the details of why something is special. I’m bucking up though and trying to put things up on the site 3-4, even 5 days a week!

What’s next?
Well, unpacking of course! I plan to have a Halloween party of my own this weekend! I’m taking the shop over with all the pieces I have from the show, plus a few more!!
Then I’ll pack it all up, once more! Add some new special pieces to the mix plus a tad of Christmas and head to GLITTERFEST! This is a show in the L. A. Area, Fullerton which is near Orange. I’ve only done it once but the last show was loads of fun! It is October 13th, a Sunday! Tell some friends about it! It’s one day 10-3.

While I am getting tons of fruit and vintage pieces ready for Goat Hill and Three Spreckled Hens.... I am also getting in lots of goodies trickling in for Mother’s Day!! It’s an amazing weekend at Favor!! I look forward to it every year and stock the shop with all kinds of fabulous baubles and treats! Yes, while serving bubbly and cookies! 🥂🍪

Also in April, we are doing this fun show! I am making some unusual pieces to delight in curiosity!? And of course bringing lots of Victorian mourning treasures... I only have an 8’ table, so my goal is to make it as interesting as I can!

Hope everyone had some lovely Holidays! I finally got a few days off together and it’s been wonderful! Today is my 3rd day off in a row and I finally feel like I’m rested!
Christmas Eve was prime rib roast, potato cake, popovers, baked endive and a beautiful Nebbiolo.... we opened champagne when I got off work!
My son loves food thankfully! My husband is a chef. So big feasts are a huge part of all our holidays! I worked Christmas Eve Day at Favor and was busy until 5! It was a pleasant day with lots of really nice customers and lots of men, shopping last minute!
My tree! Looks like a ton of presents! It was actually, we wrapped everything! Socks, calendars, t-shirts, gloves, candy, wine, you name it!
That big one there was Scully’s new dog bed. She stayed in it most of Christmas Day and night!
My favorite presents were my espresso or Nespresso machine, which was a total surprise! The coffee is amazing! The steamed milk contraption is genius!
...And my button making machine! I spent most of Boxing Day making buttons like a teenager....
Most heartfelt was the presents my son got me, he went to Telegraph Ave for the day and had a $100 budget and really knocked it out of the park!

Halloween is being loaded up on the website daily! I put about 6 hours in tonight! 6 hours putting together the Halloween goodies in the shop!
I apologize my shopatfavor.com website has taken me sooo long to finish and get together! I’m half way there! One of my goals is to get it done by the end of summer because I’d love to plan an anniversary party and sale! (It has been 3 years at my Berkeley location and 17 years in business! Whoa!)

I'm finally back at my shop after a long 7 months helping my husband out at Pompette, his new restaurant. I was at the shop 3-4 hours a day, then I'd run over there 5 nights a week. It was really fun, insane and hard on our poor son. Things are changing so I'm there weekend nights and happily hanging out with my son more! And my dog!
Which brings me to Valentine's! Here's a taste of our shop and windows right now! Happily you will see me at the shop more now. Tuesday-Saturday 11:30-6 and Sundays 12-5. I leave at 4:00 Fridays/Sat/ occasional Sundays...but otherwise I'm at the shop! I forgot just how much I love creating windows and displays! Even cleaning and organizing has been fun! Never thought I'd say that!

Happy New Year! It's been a stressful but fun year! LOTS of change, challenges and surprises! My New Year's Resolution? Blog more--I hate the word BLOG, But I would like to work on my website, putting up pictures I take, and the pieces I like. The stuff that is really in the shop now. Up until now, my husband has helped me, he is more computer oriented, let's just say. I'm more plier, drill and beads galore oriented! So I have spent a few days studying up on how to get my phone photos up and how to inventory things. Bare with me! I think the Blog will be a bit more important in relation to my website, because I can probably better explain what to look forward to and what the focus is that I'm working on, when it comes to the website!
It is January and it is time to think ahead. First plan of action is going to be HEARTS! Valentine's orders are flying in from shops in Austin, Claremont, NYC and Seattle!! We have a lot of jars of vintage glass hearts from all sizes to all colors....time to get those out and get them to use! Of course, our resin hearts! Which I've been playing around with on this chunky black chain! I love it! Plus a clear red on a tortoise chain! I'll take a picture of that tomorrow and get it up on the site!

We just finished a fun Halloween show (Halloween and Vine) it was amazing! Now just one small show left, in Danville, you are all invited! It's folk art, holiday, Halloween, handmade and Christmas all mixed into one! Tinsel and Treasures! Downtown Danville, 10-4, Saturday October 3.
FAVOR WILL BE CLOSED OCTOBER 3. I apologize but there was no way around it. I have no employees now... It's hard to be at two places at once! I won't do it too often!

I'm really tired! Unpacked most boxes and put things away. No product out yet but have put furniture in place. Today I got out 6 orders. And tomorrow I get out the rest! My customers have been so wonderful and patient!

We are CLOSED at Favor on Sutter. So sad! And it was so much work! But it was time, just couldn't keep up with the rent!
Here's the shop on Saturday. We took it all down, cleaned it and hauled it all away. It was very weird locking up, three years it has supported many great employees and hosted a lot of creativity.
At the new place? We had just finished putting up our dividers to separate our studio. It's really looking nice in the studio.
I have to say, I'm such on a budget for this place. I got a quote for $500 to put up the piping to make the room divider. My Uncle had the piping custom cut and threaded for $100, my husband and uncle put them up! The curtains 9'x10' aren't cheap, but for $300 I got enough to make the "wall". Studio is almost in working order!

Spacepop was a pop art home decor shop and gallery. Here is what the building looks like today, we are painting it...
First coat of primer over the mural. 2- more coats to go. Kind of a neutral grey. (Below is the picture of it done! Looks great!)
The Paint coat will be slightly darker. I like it! I have to admit the mural was too crazy for my business but this is looking more approachable! I'm excited. I'll keep the color inside, with the product!
Well, back to work! Lights are next. Area carpets are cleaned. One step at a time!
